Commerce City's workforce training initiative, the Commerce City Promise (C3 Promise), has been recognized with two major awards within the span of a week, cementing its status as a model for local economic and workforce development.

On August 20, the program received an Excellence Award from the International Economic Development Council (IEDC), a national honor recognizing standout economic development programs from communities across the country. Six days later, on August 26, the Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG) named C3 Promise a winner of its 2026 Metro Vision Award, presented at the organization's annual awards gala in front of roughly 500 regional leaders.

Commerce City has been selected as one of six cities nationwide to participate in the National League of Cities 2025 Community Health and Well-Being Accelerator, a 12-month program focusing on housing, healthy food, healthcare, transportation, and economic opportunity. The City Council passed a resolution to formally support the effort, which is built around the premise that progress in any one of the targeted areas strengthens the others.

Commerce City is drawing attention on multiple fronts — from regional civic leaders optimistic about its future to national corporations committing hundreds of millions of dollars to expand their presence there.

At the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce's recent State of the Cities luncheon, attendees were asked a simple question: what place in the region makes you most optimistic about the future? Commerce City ranked among the most frequently cited answers. The result was notable for a city that has historically flown under the radar of regional civic conversations.
